There are different types of oils flooding in the markets. All claim to be heart healthy. Instead of getting confused we should focus on which is the best oil for healthy cooking. All oils from vegetable sources will be cholesterol free. However, we need to see the amount of Saturated fats, Polyunsaturated fats and Monounsaturated fatty acids present in them which should be 20%, 30% and 50% respectively. Any oil which is extra virgin, virgin, cold pressed or wood pressed can be kept on the top list. Refined and hydrogenated oils are better to avoid as they tend to lose all their nutrients in the chemical processing. Also make sure to rotate different oils at every 3-4 months so that you get all essential fatty acids. Do not store used oils. Consumption of whole nuts and seeds are equally important.
Blog on this would be coming up soon.
